This comprehensive course will be an in-depth study of the foundational asanas/postures of the first half of the Primary Series.

Throughout the course you will receive a detailed analysis of the key alignment techniques and the traditional vinyasa count of the standing and some of the seated postures. There will also be a strong focus on learning modifications for all body types and injuries. Each session will include Nadi Shodhana/Breathwork practices which help the body assimilate the teachings on a deeper cellular level, leaving you feeling fully relaxed and restored.

Whether you're new to Ashtanga yoga or looking for a new way to approach your daily practice, this course is ideal for you!

6 MONTH FOUNDATION COURSE

OVERVIEW

Our Foundation Course is designed for anyone new to Ashtanga or looking to develop a sustainable personal yoga practice. These authentic teachings will be delivered in a down to earth approach from Gillian’s vast experience of studying at the source in Mysore, India.

The course consists of a detailed analysis of the basic fundamental standing and seated yoga poses and classic yogic breathing techniques. There will be a strong focus on making these teachings accessible for all body types and injuries. There will also be studies of the basic history and philosophy of yoga. This course will be held on one Saturday a month and is ideal for people who are ready to integrate a personal yoga practice their daily life.

COURSE OUTLINE

Yoga Postures Class

These classes will be an in-depth study of the basic fundamental standing and seated postures. There will be a strong focus on making the postures accessible for all body types and injuries through modification techniques.

Yoga Postures Alignment & Modification Techniques

A detailed analysis of the key deconstruction and alignment techniques of the basic fundamental postures. There will be a strong focus on developing a solid foundation in the core alignment points of each posture. Practical hands on modifications will provide practitioners with the concrete knowledge to learn effective modifications for all different body types and injuries.

History and Philosophy of Yoga

An overview of the origins and basic philosophy on which classical yoga practice is based. This provides a basis for a study of the practical application of these ancient texts into modern daily life.

Yogic Breathing Techniques and Yoga Nidra Meditation

The study of classic yogic breathwork and the most up to date science backed evidence based research behind these techniques. The practice of Yoga Nidra Meditation is a guided meditation which helps the body assimilate the teachings leaving you feeling relaxed and restored.

  • 15.30-16.00: Yoga Nidra Meditation

COURSE FEES

  • Early-bird fee is €650 if paid in full before December 31st 2024.

  • Basic fee is €720

  • 50% deposit (€360) is required to secure your place. All deposits and further fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  • Participants will receive a Certificate of completion on successful participation in all course modules.
