It’s hard to believe that June is already upon us!
The Mysore classes will be running as usual all month including an Introductory Workshop next Saturday, June 8th for both beginners and anyone looking for a refresher in the basic fundamentals (see below for full details.)
Ashtanga Yoga is so often misunderstood as a purely physical practice but it can be a deeply healing and transformative practice when correctly understood. It is a very precise and systematic practice. Progression in your practice can only be truly measured when you can breath comfortably in the challenging asanas. This gives the real depth of connectivity between the mind and the body. Otherwise, it’s just bending like circus contortionists (as it can appear to many outsiders!) The idea is to allow ourselves to use each new asana to help us peel back the layers of deep conditioning and trauma trapped within us. It’s not about killing ourselves and racing through the practice. Ultimately, the body will age and the asanas will go. What matters is how we use them to tap into our inner soul. Please try to remember this when you come to your mat!
Applications are now open on our next Immersion Course commencing in January 2020. This comprehensive course is designed to help yoga students deepen their personal practice and for those already teaching to get a deeper foundation and refine their skills through understanding the Ashtanga practice from the inside out. Our lecturers are leaders in their field of yoga, including esteemed Yoga Philosophy lecturer, Marianne Jacuzzi and Anatomy and Physiology lecturer, Daniela Gonzales Arez – see HERE. You can find lots more details and the application process HERE.
