It’s always a joy to see the highly anticipated transition from Winter to Springtime. This special time of year is associated with change and the inspiration for new beginnings – enjoy!

We’ve already started our new beginnings having just completed the first weekend of our Immersion Course. It fills me with inspiration to share these authentic teachings with both practitioners and teachers looking for a deeper understanding and approach to the Ashtanga Yoga system. We will be delving in to the different facets of the practice with a strong emphasis on a detailed analysis of the key alignment techniques of the asanas of the primary series. The modules include hands-on adjustment sessions enabling participants to learn the safest way to teach and adjust asanas. We also have top calibre lecturers for the  Yoga Philosophy and Anatomy and Physiology modules. Spaces are already filling up on the next Immersion Course commencing in June until October. It’s always nice to have something to look forward to – I’m already looking forward to our Summer Retreat in the beautiful setting of the Itria Valley in Puglia, Italy! This is a wonderful opportunity for both beginners and experienced practitioners to deepen their practice with morning Mysore classes, afternoon workshops and otherwise, guests are free to explore the local beaches and towns, or to simply relax by the pool! I will be practicing with Certified teacher, Hamish Hendry in Astanga Yoga London next week (see It’s an integral part of my journey as a teacher to continually focus on my studies in order to be able to teach as authentically as possible. The evening Mysore classes will run as usual this week and restart on Tuesday, February 19th. All monthly memberships and class cards will be credited accordingly. I’ll return fully rejuvenated for you all after an intense week of studies with Hamish!

This is a wonderful opportunity for both beginners and experienced students to deepen their practice of Ashtanga yoga with Gillian in the beautiful setting of the Itria valley, Puglia, Southern Italy. The day will begin with Mysore Style classes and there will also be three-afternoon workshops focusing on the key elements of the Ashtanga Yoga system including the principles of Back Bending, Inversions and Transitions. Accommodation and Facilities

The retreat centre is set in 2.5 acres of grounds in a valley filled with olive and almond groves. Accommodation consists of twin/double bedrooms all with private en-suite bathrooms and AC. The rooms are all renovated to a high standard using locally sourced materials, creating a luxurious yet simple and understated feel. A large outdoor courtyard will provide the main communal eating space, and several outdoor terraces offer a place to relax in the sun or the shade.

Situated at the heart of the complex, the swimming pool acts like a colourful meeting point – with the blue water combining with the green olive trees and the red soil.

The international airport at Brindisi is approximately 40 minutes drive away and Bari is further to the north approximately 55 minutes drive. Ryanair has direct flights from Dublin to both airports. Hiring a car in Puglia is relatively inexpensive and provides a great way to explore the surrounding countryside, local historical towns and beaches. Both Bari and Brindisi airports have a large selection of hire car companies including Avis and Hertz. It is recommended to book a car before your arrival. Alternatively, we can arrange a taxi to collect you on your arrival.

Full Primary Series Workshop

Saturday, March 9th 
10.30am – 1.00pm

Experience the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method with careful emphasis on the traditional vinyasa system. We will be moving through the Primary series to help you understand the dynamics and the breakdown of this system. There will be a strong focus on key alignment techniques, providing you with concrete information to flow through your practice from one posture to another more fluidly. There will also be a strong focus on how to apply the Tristana method of breath, posture and focal point to train the mind transforming your physical practice into a moving meditation. Previous experience of Ashtanga Yoga required. All Mysore practitioners are encouraged to attend.
