It’s hard to believe the ‘silly season’ is almost upon us!

I understand your schedules may get busier over the coming weeks but try to get into the shala and on to your mat when you can, as often as you can. It’s all too easy to lose ourselves in the unnecessary stress and worry over material goods and money at this time of year. Keep up your practice and remember that some Ashtanga is always better than no Ashtanga!

There’s been a lot of interest in the New Year Retreat (Jan 19th-21st) There are a few last spaces for anyone that fancies a rejuvenating weekend of Mysore style practice, amazing organic vegetarian food and walks in idyllic nature after the festive season.

There are also a few last spaces on the Introductory and key principles of back bending workshops next Saturday, December 2nd. The Introductory Workshop from 10am-12pm on is suitable for all levels, including complete beginners or anyone looking for a refresher in the basic fundamentals.  The key principles of back bending workshop (1-3.30pm) are suitable for anyone with some prior experience. See for bookings or email me at if you would like any further details before booking your spot.

The Key Principles of Back Bending Workshop 

Saturday, December 2nd (1pm-3.30pm) 

An in-depth exploration of the integration of healthy alignment techniques and the development of stamina to stay through the intensity of backbends and front stretches.

We will be moving through the primary series to help you understand the breakdown and dynamics of developing correctly aligned front stretches and deeper backbends. The dynamic movement mechanics of bending your spine are the key to limitless flows of energy and in this workshop, you will begin to explore your natural potential for backbends and front stretches with safety and support.

Suitable for all levels with some prior experience of the Ashtanga Primary Series.

Investment: €40 and pre-booking requested via as spaces are limited to ensure all participants are guided on an individual level.

Introductory Ashtanga Mysore Workshop

Saturday, December 2nd (10am-12pm)

This workshop is suitable for ALL levels (including COMPLETE BEGINNERS) that would like to learn the traditional way to practice Ashtanga Yoga. Gillian will guide you through the correct breathing technique and a series of the basic fundamental postures.

You will develop a strong foundation and the confidence to transition into the Mysore classes in a nurturing and safe environment. The cost is €35 for the workshop on its own or avail of a New Students Offer of €100 including the workshop and a FULL MONTH OF UNLIMITED MORNING AND EVENING CLASSES to get you started on your Ashtanga journey!

New Year Retreat

Escape for a weekend of Ashtanga yoga and amazing organic vegetarian food at the idyllic Monalea retreat centre! This weekend will be a deep immersion in traditional Ashtanga yoga consisting of morning mysore style classes, afternoon workshops and evening guided meditation classes. The retreat centre is nested in a valley on the high hills on the Wicklow Wexford border less than an hour from Dublin.It’s a peaceful haven with many walks and woodlands nearby including delicious organic vegetarian food and shared en-suite accommodation.

The Shala located in the heart of Dublin City centre beside Merrion Square is available to rent (30 sq feet.) Ideally suited to someone with an established clientele looking to rent space at weekends on a long-term basis (also available during the week outside scheduled class times.)
